Meet Marcus Delzell · Austin Artist of the Month

Unchained.Art Contemporary Gallery kicks off ‘Austin Artist of the Month’, a new monthly program built around discovery, collaboration, and Austin’s creative community. Each month, one Austin artist outside the gallery’s represented roster co-curates a dedicated wall, presenting a month-long mini exhibition. On the first Sunday of each month, the artist is present to talk about their practice and walk visitors through what is on view.

September’s artist is Marcus Delzell, a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans oil painting, drawing, video, and theater. His compositions investigate identity, perception, and the tension between authenticity and performance. Drawing on Greek mythology and the metaphor of the mask, Delzell examines the human psyche and the narratives we impose on ourselves and others. Several paper-based drawings will be shown publicly for the first time.

His work is on view through October 3. On September 6, join us from 12 to 4PM to meet the artist in person. Free, drop-ins welcome.
